Team

Our clients tell us that they work with us long term because our brilliant creative sits alongside a refreshingly honest and personable approach to doing business. In fact, that could be why our colleagues have stuck around for so long, too!

We don’t have Account Managers or New Biz teams working hard to upsell or cross-sell services that you don’t really need. The designers you meet on pitch day will be the ones working on your brief and you’ll have their direct lines as the project progresses. We’re a small and close-knit team of highly experienced designers with expertise in all areas of design.

This is team Soap: Large enough to deliver, small enough to care.

Christy Walters
Founder | Creative Lead

As well as overseeing studio production from a creative perspective, it is Christy’s responsibility to keep a stress-free studio running smoothly so that projects can be completed on time and within budget. Experienced across on and offline media, and with an attention to detail that is second to none, Christy knows how to work with all levels of the supply chain to get things done.

He embodies the relaxed, professional feel of the studio. This isn’t a corporate machine churning out collateral without care: it’s a personable and friendly business doing brilliant design for clients with whom the team, and most of all Christy, have real relationships.

Like all companies, Soap has been through many successful iterations of itself. But it is this, it’s current and most cohesive form, that is making him feel ambitious and upbeat about the future.

Laurie Edwards
Design Lead

Expert in all areas of design, from websites to bespoke illustrations, Laurie joined the team in 2010 and has since been leading design projects, across a whole host of sectors, with his signature laid back style.

Calm under pressure and brave in his colour choices, he relishes the opportunity to create a logo and brand from scratch. He is always pushing himself to be more creative and loves helping clients to surprise themselves with their design choices, too.

Laurie says the best thing about working at Soap is the family feel of the team and they say the best thing about working with him is his consistency and incredible creativity.

Amelia Cheek
Marketing Lead

When it comes to marketing strategy, Amelia brings a heady mix of experience, enthusiasm and experimentation. When she’s not flexing her content creation skills, she’s ensuring that Soap is represented at all the most exciting events and creative forums in the South West.

Never afraid to take risks or try something new, she has worked as an Interior and Digital Designer for a high-end property development company, created a successful interiors Instagram page (as a side hustle) and, in classic Amelia ever-adaptable style, embodied a whole host of roles at a digital marketing startup in Bristol. Now she’s on a mission to make some noise in the creative community, raising Soap’s profile and building our brand.

She says the best thing about working at Soap is the teams’ openness to new ideas and they say the best thing about Amelia is her incredibly can-do attitude.

Ella Hunter
Junior Designer

Ella joins us at Junior Designer, assisting the busy studio in day to day projects. She is keen to master all aspects of design from digital to traditional, Ella has brought her creativity, determination and curiosity to the Soap Team. She loves to push herself and is always up for a challenge, bringing her ability to multitask and communicate from brief to design.

Ella says the best thing about working at Soap Creative is the team and how welcoming and friendly they are, and they say the best thing about Ella is her bubbly personality and the amount of questions she asks.

Rachael Ellway
Finance & Media

If you need your budget to be meticulously managed and your deadlines to be met, then it’s Rachael that you’re looking for.

With a background in marketing and print buying, Rachael has honed her ability to communicate – and negotiate – with designers, clients and publishers alike. She worked both agency and client side before settling here at Soap, where fast-paced projects are balanced with a harmonious team dynamic, playing to all of her strengths. All of Soap’s media planning and buying goes through her and she ensures that all ongoing projects and new briefs run smoothly and on time.

She says the best thing about working at Soap is feeling valued and they say the best thing about working with Rachael is her (possibly caffeine fueled) energy and deep love for securing a good deal.

Tom Mulcahy
Graphic Designer

Whether it’s social media graphics or exhibition signage, Tom is our go-to guy for design across digital and traditional media.

Working with Tom, you can expect clear communication and super creative design ideas. As hardworking as he is talented, he is key to Soap’s success on a daily basis. He loves nothing more than an instantly recognisable logomark and working within a brief to design a new logo and brand identity for a client.

He says the best thing about working for Soap is the close-knit team and that team say the best thing about working with Tom is his easy going and attentive nature.
