It’s been a few weeks since we attended Building Brands Marketing Conference, with a few days of big project launches in our creative studio and (another) glorious May bank holiday behind us, we’ve been busy little bees but here is our official write up of all the fun we had.

———————————————–

Once we had navigated the many (many, oh so many) roundabouts of Plymouth we found our spot in the gorgeous Roland Levinsky Building, set up our small but super eco-friendly stand; filled with a variety of plantable pencils with different herbs, as well as give away packs with dehydrated soil with forget me not seeds inside a recycled newspaper plant pot.

A quick dinner at the Beefeater and we were ready and raring to go for the big day.

As well as meeting loads of lovely marketeers from the South West (and beyond!) and bumping into a few familiar faces, Christy and Amelia managed to sneak away from our garden oasis-themed stand to attend a couple of the keynotes and workshops.

Particular highlights for the team were Tim Cameron-Kitchen from Exposure Ninja’s talk, 4 ways to triple the leads and sales your website generates, which reminded us of the importance of objection handling when it comes to website design. Also how small psychological nuances and persuasions can have big impacts on consumer behaviour, from Steve Mauser (DCUK)’s, talk Discover the magical side of marketing.

These really chimed with us here at Soap in terms of the client work we do, and also for us as a brand design and print media agency that is contending with the balance of having a really well-designed site, because this is our portfolio, while also focusing on SEO.

There were so many thought-provoking insights from the speakers and interesting conversations with other attendees and, as you might imagine from an event filled with the South West’s most brilliant marketing minds, plenty of inspiration and new connections to take back to Portishead with us, too.

Finally, we’d like to say a huge thank you to the Building Brands team for having us – the organisation was brilliant and the vibe at the event was really friendly and energising. We’re already looking forward to Round II at the next one in November in Exeter!

Were you there too? What was the most inspiring or thought-provoking part of Building Brands for you and your team?
